How do I distract myself from thinking negative thoughts?

Today I tried to meditate, and when it did not work after trying for five minutes, I decided to pick up Sadie poop.  After 7 small green bags of piled dog poop, I was beckoned to blog.  And after 13 blog posts of inspired thoughts and feelings, I have brought myself to a happy place where I know I have aligned with who I really am and that good things are now continuing to come into my life.
